Trip to the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory

November 7, 2019 @ 1:30 pm

Dear Ladies,

Here is some further information regarding the upcoming November 7th trip to Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservation on Belle Isle. Please remember the seating is limited so be sure to sign up as soon as you can.

The beautiful landmark has just reopened after 2.5 million in repairs to its signature dome. The conservatory has five “houses”: The Palm House, the Cactus House, the Fernery, Tropical House and the Show House. It is the oldest continually-running conservatory in the United States.

The docent led tour begins promptly at 1:30 p.m. so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get there. The cost is $3.00 per person. Be sure to note that all vehicles will require a State Recreation Passport. These are $11.00 per car and can be purchased at the Belle Isle Entry Booth or on the island in the Belle Isle Park at the White House.

There are limited bathroom facilities on the island. There is one bathroom in the Belle Isle Aquarium (right next door) and no bathroom in the conservatory.

Following the tour, we will stop at the Cornwall Bakery for lunch located at 15215 Kercheval Ave, Grosse Pointe Park. The bakery has delicious homemade food including soups, salads, sandwiches made from their Artisan Breads along with specialty drinks, coffee and tea. For those of us that love sweets, cakes, pies, muffins, tortes…

Your host,

Vicki Kling

Jan Clark

*All that Signed up will be able to go on the trip. *
